What is kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a natural therapy which combines muscle monitoring with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It identifies imbalances in the body’s structural, chemical, emotional or other energy to establish the body’s priority healing needs – what it needs to return to a state of optimal health.

Like Chinese medicine, kinesiology recognizes that there are flows of energy within the body that relate not only to the muscles but to every tissue and organ that go to make the body a living, feeling being. These energy flows can be evaluated by testing the function of the muscles, which in turn reflect the body’s overall state of balance.

Below are some examples of imbalances:

Physical/Structural
- Muscular aches and pains
- Headaches and migraines
- Physical injury
- Postural problems
- Post-operative pain
Nutritional/Biochemical
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Allergies/sensitivities
- Digestive problems
- Hormone imbalances
- Weight management
Mental/ Emotional
- Learning difficulties
- Behavioural problems
- Stress management
- Fear and anxiety
- Emotional trauma

What can you expect from a session?

At the initial session, a complete client history is taken. Information about family, past trauma, accidents and surgery, current medication, supplements, food preferences and exercise are all taken into consideration. These help us paint a full picture of what is happening in the body.

During the session you will remain fully clothed. After discussing your issues and what you want to achieve as a result of the treatment, we create a goal. In kinesiology, we do not focus on the symptoms, rather balance the whole person towards a goal. This is followed by a series of pre-tests and activities to identify areas or stress and imbalance in the body.

Based on your body’s biofeedback, we then find the appropriate correction for the imbalance/s. This may involve stimulating reflex or acupressure points, nutritional adjustments or emotional stress release. Depending on the issue and stress it is causing, several techniques may be used.

How many sessions are needed?

This will depend completely on you and how quickly your body responds to the techniques used. While some imbalances may be resolved in one or two sessions, others at deeper level may take a number of sessions to clear.

Everyone is unique and responds differently to balances so it is important to guide how you are feeling after a session. This will help determine the next step and whether follow up sessions are needed to maintain the balance.

What are the costs?
